The cherry blossom festivities were kicked off at the fifth annual Pink Tie Party on March 23 at The Mayflower Renaissance Hotel.  Hosted by 2011 James Beard Foundation Awards Semifinalist for Restaurateur of the Year Richard Sandoval,  the party featured DC's top chefs' delicious cherry blossom-inspired cuisine and cocktails.  Participating restaurants included 1789, Zengo, Jackson 20, Kushi Izakaya & Sushi, LIMA, Marvin, and Vidalia, to name a few.  The silent and online auction fundraiser benefited the Festival's Japan relief efforts in conjunction with the American Red Cross.
