Across the world, buildings turned blue in honor of the 70th Anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. This landmark event was also celebrated in an imaginative way on a beautiful fall evening in Washington when Swiss born pianist Béatrice Berrut charmed an eclectic gathering in Washington at the Swiss Ambassador’s residence. Switzerland’s Ambassador Martin Dahinden and his wife Anita Dahinden extended a warm welcome to a distinguished audience. This special concert was presented in coordination by the Embassy Series – founded by Jerome and Lisette Barry. The event drew many other luminaries in the greater Washington metropolitan area. Among the audience were former Tennessee Congressman John Tanner and his wife Betty Ann Tanner, Anne Howard-Tristani and her husband Dennis Tristani and professionals from different walks of life. Ambassador Donald Bliss, President, United Nations Association of the National Capital Area, presented a few introductory remarks. He served U.S. Ambassador to the International Civil Aviation Organization, an UN-affiliated international organization, and U.S. Permanent Representative on the ICAO Council.
