Adama Dieng (born 22 May 1950 in Senegal) is a Senegalese jurist, lawyer, and international human rights expert. He currently serves as the African Union Special Envoy on the Prevention of Genocide and Other Mass Atrocities, a role in which he leads continental efforts to strengthen early warning, policy engagement, and preventive action against genocide and similar crimes across Africa. Previously, Dieng was United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide (2012–2020), advising the UN Secretary-General on preventing genocide and other atrocity crimes. He also served over a decade as Registrar of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), contributing to international justice following the 1994 genocide. Earlier in his career, he was Secretary-General of the International Commission of Jurists and has held numerous advisory and expert roles in international law and human rights. He holds law degrees from the University of Dakar and the Hague Academy of International Law.
