If you are interested in or involved with the food, health, environment, or energy sectors; if you care about your success but also the future of the world, there is only one place to be next year: the city of Milan, Italy. From May 1st to October 31st, Milan will host the Expo 2015, the next world trade fair. This is not simply a fair. Expo is a global event aimed at offering countries world-wide a unique opportunity to showcase their best experiences and most significant achievements in these specific areas. It will be an extraordinary journey around the globe, through food, culture, and traditions.

With more than 140 official participants representing 94 percent of the world population, Expo Milan 2015 will focus on nutrition and health, renewable energies, and sustainable development. In 2050, the world population is expected to reach 9.6 billion people, according to the UN. Feeding this population in a healthy, sustainable, and environment–friendly way poses a daunting challenge to all world leaders. Expo Milan 2015 will offer countries worldwide the opportunity to feed this debate by bringing their cultures, experiences, innovation, and vision to the Expo, and merge them with others to form a global platform.

National pavilions, along with thematic clusters, will be the structure for such a vibrant interaction, and civil society will play a crucial role in this. A special focus will be dedicated to the role of women and their contribution to health and nutrition. “WE-Women for Expo” will gather artists, scientists, and activists from civil society around four specific area projects: cuisine (“world table”), literature (“world story”), art (“global creativity thinking”) and business (“entrepreneurs”).

If you are a start-up company, Expo Milan 2015 will offer a concrete chance to showcase your innovation and solutions on an international scale, and attract the attention of institutions, governments, consumers, and investors from around the world. If your company aims to develop its business on a global scale or to explore new market opportunities, an area larger than 10 million square feet will allow you to travel around the world while standing in one place.

More than 10,000 events will create a unique environment that will put Italy’s exclusive cultural heritage center-stage. From the astonishing La Scala Theater to the magnificent villas on Lake Como, wonderful Italian cultural sites will open their doors and welcome visitors from around the globe with special events organized for this occasion.

Expo 2015 will be the largest and most important international event that Italy will host in the coming years. It is a golden opportunity to promote our national identity, our talent and passion for healthy life, our natural calling for art and design, and our cutting-edge contribution to science and technology.

On March 27, 2014 President Barack Obama announced the United States' participation to Expo Milano 2015. American Food 2.0 is the feature of the high-tech pavilion that will showcase the U.S.’s presence in Milan with the ultimate goal of highlighting American leadership, technology, and innovation in the fields of sustainability, nutrition and health, consumption, technology, and innovation. With the recent nomination of Doug Hickey as Commissioner General for the U.S. Pavilion, the Obama Administration has once again reaffirmed its strong support to Expo Milan 2015.

As Henry Ford rightly said, "Ducks lay eggs discreetly, on the other hand a chicken makes noise so the whole estate can hear. What is the result? The whole world eats chicken eggs, just few use duck eggs...” Be successful. Be in Milan.

Participating in the Expo will significantly contribute to the debate on how we build our future, in terms of sustainable growth, environmental protection, and food security. This debate affects everyone, and requires us to share information, join our efforts, and shape a common platform where people and ideas have a chance to meet and interact. We can concretely contribute to achieving this goal in Milan by sharing a vision expressed in the motto, “Feeding the planet, energy for life”.
