Our world is complex. Over the past year, access to new technology sparked transition in the Arab world; economic troubles plagued the United States and much of the globe; the conflicts in Syria and Afghanistan have reminded us of fragility of life and the importance of a global commitment to peace. As we approach the beginnings of the second administration for President Obama, we are consistently reminded that our world and the communities in which we live are more connected than ever. With this connectedness comes responsibility – responsibility to our neighbors, responsibility to our communities, and responsibility to our children. Our resources are substantial, but the conflicts and challenges throughout our world are greater.

Mr. President, we, the American people, are more than a match to these challenges. We have the tools, and we are part of the solution. We must work across the aisle to ensure truly functional systems that work for the people, and promote inclusion rather than exclusion. If we do not reaffirm common values, we forget why our Constitution exists.

President Obama, we see in you a leader committed to strengthening our country. We also see a man committed to being a good father, continually teaching your daughters about courage, perseverance and compassion through each of your actions. Educating our children sets the foundation for life-long learning and instills in our youth the values, vision, and commitment to become the next generation of global leaders.

To keep our nation strong, we must continue our commitment to improve education in the United States. We must increase access to technology in the classroom, enhance teaching methods, and provide students with real opportunities for employment after they graduate, to keep youth engaged and help them become capable and productive change agents in our society. As we give priority to our own children’s education, we must also commit to enhancing education systems abroad, specifically in areas of conflict. Through Creative’s work in developing countries, working hand in hand to provide opportunities to the poorest and most vulnerable, we see education as the path to success.

We urge you to continue to be the model to our world that you are as a father, so that you can be a change agent for peaceful transitions overseas and in the United States. We understand how difficult the world is today, but we are here to support you as we work towards positive change. You can do it. We need you to do it. Just as we stand by those who need us most here in the U.S. and abroad, we will be by your side every step of the way.
