Diplomatic Courier Focuses on Women in Special Forces, Transatlantic Geo-Economics at the G8, and the Green Revolution

WASHINGTON, DC: As Army Sgt. Julia Bringloe receives the Distinguished Flying Cross and General John Allen adjusts the NATO mission in Afghanistan just before the U.S. hosts the annual G8 and NATO Summits, the Diplomatic Courier is pleased to announce today's release of Volume 6, Issue 3 of the magazine featuring:

  • "Women in Special Forces: The Debate on Combat Exclusion" by Lani Hay, CEO Lanmark Technologies Inc.
  • "The Case for Transatlantic Geo-Economics at the G8" by Tyson Barker, Director of Transatlantic Relations at the Bertelsman Foundation
  • "Turncoat Attacks in Afghanistan" by Celeste Owen-Jones, DC Contributor
  • "Pakistan Remains a Question Mark in Lead Up to NATO Summit" by Boris Maguire, DC Contributor
  • "No Blueprint in Sight for NATO's Out-of-Area Operations" by Andrea Barbara Baumann and Gergely Varga, Visiting Fellows at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at SAIS, John Hopkins University
  • "How State & Defense Are Leading the Green Revolution" by Zachary Colman, DC Contributor

"This week, the United States will play host to both the G8 (Camp David) and NATO (Chicago) Summits," said Editor Ana C. Rold. "Both gatherings are increasingly important in solidifying and strengthening the partnership between transatlantic friends as the U.S. and EU account for half the world's GDP (at 49 percent) and a third of the world's trade flows. What happens in the economies in the U.S. and Europe has a ringing effect for the rest of the world."

In addition to other articles on Russia, Korean nuclear security and objectives, and Al Qaeda's soft targets, this edition publishes an interview with James Goldgeier, Dean, School of International Service (SIS), American University and a profile of Namik Tan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, by Steve Lutes.

Illuminating stories through images, this issue of the Diplomatic Courier contains the stunning photo journal "Occupy Movements at Six Months; Tuaregs in Mali; Holi Festival of Colors;" and more.

The past March/April 2012 edition was primarily dedicated to a series of articles surrounding International Women's Day, but also includes a stunning photo journal by Sebastian Rich on Afghan refugees in Pakistan, Lara Setrakian's article "Anatomy of an Arab Transformation," and others.
